Biography
Patrick Bruce Metheny, born August 12, 1954 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA, is an American jazz guitarist and leader of the Pat Metheny Group.
He has been performing at a rate of 200 concerts per year since 1974. Some jazz critics have tented for a long time to divide his work into two branches: that of a jazzman and that of leader of the Pat Metheny Group. To the academic jazz open to various experiments, they opposed a prospective and more experimental musician. The many awards he received in both branches are proof of recognition for his two artistic facets. For him, his work is nothing other than a highlighting of his musical personality through different aspects of his art that must be understood as a whole. In 2021, he released the EP “Side Eye V1.IV”.
