Formed in 2008 by three friends who met at Leeds University, the band has developed a unique sound. Their musical style mixes folk interludes, hip-hop rhythms and vocal harmonies. The band consists of Joe Newman (guitarist\/vocals), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboardist\/vocals), and Thom Green (drummer\/samples).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With bassist Gwil Sainsbury having left the band after their first album, they are now a recognisable trio from the first notes. <strong><em>An Awesome Wave<\/em><\/strong>, their debut album released in 2012 was critically acclaimed and won the Mercury Music Prize, an Ivor Novello &#8220;Album Award&#8221; for songwriting and three BRIT Award nominations. The album is now platinum in the UK and has sold over 1,000,000 albums worldwide.
